Georgia Historical Marker Placement
|
The Georgia Historical Marker for First Christian Church was placed in front of the church on 16 April 2005. It stands adjacent to the church courtyard where the beautiful magnolia tree was planted by Mrs. Emily Tubman in the 1800s. This picture was taken before the marker ceremony began at which time the marker cover was removed. | |

Small Steeple Replacement
|
On 8 SEP 2005, the smaller steeple was placed or replaced. The original smaller steeple has been missing for many years. As you face the front of the church, the smaller steeple is on the right hand side. The larger steeple, which rises from the southwest corner of the church building, is directly opposite of the smaller steeple. Part of this larger steeple was built to house the bell tower, and for many years the top of the spire was taller than any building in Augusta.
For more info on the smaller steeple SEE The Little Steeple Story. |
