First Christian Church, Augusta, GA ~  Prayer is POWERFUL!   ~   Prayer is often overlooked, and we sometimes take it for granted. Many times we pray only when we need or want something. Again, prayer is very powerful, and we need to pray daily. Here are some prayers that have given comfort to some of our members in times of need, despair, or daily devotional. Lord Jesus, Father, and God Almighty, You lead us along the way and seek us when we are lost. Thank you, Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus, Father, and God Almighty, You give us life and provide sustenance. Thank you, Father. Lord Jesus, Father, and God Almighty, You provide a way for eternal life and offer it to all. Thank you, God, Almighty. Thank you, Father, and Thank you, Lord Jesus. Lord, forgive me for my sins and help me to forgive others who have committed sins against me. Teach me patience and understanding so that I may become a better Christian in order to spread your message. Help me to recognize when others are in need so that I may help give comfort and show others your love. This I ask in the name of Jesus, Amen. God, I come to you this morning To thank you for all you have given me. You have been so good to me, Yet, I don't deserve it. Please forgive me for my sins, oh Lord. And, help guide me through all of life's problems. Amen From the book of Matthew, Jesus teaches us to pray through a prayer referred to as The Lord's Prayer. The following is taken from Matthew 6:9-13 and Luke 11:2-4 and is recited in our church every Sunday.  The Lord's Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed by thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, On Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, But deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, And the power, and the glory, forever. Amen Father, Great things happen through you. Teach me to be a better Christian so that I may tell others about you. Help me to keep you at the center of my life, because I know....Father, Great things happen through you. Thank you for this day. Be with me, Jesus, as I go through the day. Guide me and help me make the right decisions. Comfort me when things go wrong. Bring me home safe at the end of my day. I love you, Jesus. Amen   Members in need of prayers- For privacy reasons, we will not post names or prayer concerns, so if you are wondering about a certain member who may be sick or in need and want to pray for him or her, please pray for all of those in need of prayers at First Christian Church. Thank you for your prayers.   Perhaps you have found this page and feel that you are in need of a prayer for yourself or a loved one. Whether it be because of ill health or other problems, please ready your heart before you pray and ask for forgiveness of your sins. Then ask the Lord to help you with whatever situation you are in.    Ask God to give you the strength that will help you to resolve whatever problem has arisen. Ask him to be with you to give you comfort at times of sadness or grief. Whatever the situation, continue to pray. Give thanksgivings to the Lord for the things you have, and remember, God doesn't answer every prayer in the way that we want it to be answered. Sometimes we have to listen very carefully to hear his message. Precious Jesus, I come to you today with thoughts of people suffering around the world. I ask that you be with them to help them overcome their troubles and suffering. I ask this in your name, Amen. Lord, I've seen the great things that you do. I've experienced the mightiness of your hand. Lead me now, oh Lord, in the way that I should go. In the name of Christ I ask this, Amen.    Jesus, be with me as I take this big step. I'm in fear that I will make a mistake, And, I need you to help show me the way. Thank you, Jesus. Amen Jesus, help me to share with others the meaning of salvation. Thank you, Amen. Lord, I am facing some difficult times, and I need your help. Please help me to make the right choices because I know I can't do this by myself. Amen Father, thank you for sending your son to die on the cross so that I might have eternal life. Amen
