First Christian Church, Augusta, GA ~   Emily's Magnolia Tree and Memorial   ~   Emily's Magnolia Tree    This is the magnolia tree that Mrs. Tubman planted in the courtyard of First Christian Church when the building was erected. The marker pictured below sits beneath the tree. As of 2008, this tree still stands tall and green.   The Emily Tubman Magnolia Tree With her own hands Emily Tubman planted in the center of the churchyard, a magnolia tree which, if nothing occurs to check its growth or destroy it, will keep her memory green in the hearts of all, who love the Lord, for a hundred years. -F.M.
